Choctawhatchee Bay

Chart of the Bay. I need to study up on Photoshop so that I can annotate it.

On Sunday we went out to Crab Island for lunch.

To Damon

I'm using a Verizon wireless card. It's about $60/month and has worked well thus far. The model I have has an internal antenna. Some models allow an external antenna attachment which should provide greater range in the fringe areas. Have your dad e-mail me with your e-mail address.

Beach Art

On Saturday we set up on the harbor side beach for some people watching. This young guy pulled in with his dad and sister. As soon as he hit the beach he started gathering bits of wood and rocks. I thought he was building a campfire. Instead he created a work of beach art.

Marina Cafe

We had Morele's birthday dinner at Marina Cafe.

WaterColor / Seaside Part 2

WaterColor / Seaside Part 1

We took the bikes over to Hwy 30A and rode around WaterColor and Seaside. Had lunch at Bud and Allie's on the beach at Seaside. We're listening to Gnarles Barkley as we post this. Does that make me crazy?

The next post is the pictures from today.

Happy Birthday Morele

Cajun Chef

Tuesday is fried chicken day at Harbor Docks. I noticed that they have Cajun Chef products on the table. Cajun Chef is based in St. Martinville and owned by Mr. Jimmy B. I have only met Mr. Jimmy a couple times but the connection is unique. He is George S.'s duck hunting buddy and Carl B.'s father-in-law and Ashley R.'s grandfather. A successful South Louisiana businessman. Good on him. The picture on the right is Mr. Jimmy's tabasco vinagrette alongside a Red Bull & Vodka. They'll both make you howl!

Pictures From Nick's

I'm reposting the pictures from Nick's as several people have said they weren't able to pull them up yesterday.

EUREKA ! ! !

I finally found a joint that serves boiled blue point crabs. "Nick's" is located on the north eastern shore of Choctawhatchee Bay on Hwy 20 between Freeport and Niceville. Real country place. It reminds me of the crab joints we went to when I was a kid: Levy's at Cypremort Point, (the old) Guiding Star in Lydia, the Levee Bar at Butte LaRose. Those were great places. Nick's is on the Bay at the mouth of Basin Bayou. It has both dead and live animals hanging around. A sandy beach for the kids to play. Cold beer for the bigger kids. This part of Florida has many Alabama and Auburn fans. There was even some LSU football gear lying around. All around great place to spend a Sunday afternoon eating crab and drinking beer. I give it ***** (five stars).
