Tellico Lake was formed when the Little Tennessee River was damned. It was made famous by the fight over the Snail Darter which held up the project for several years. It is navigable
for about twenty miles at the en of which you have a view of the Great Smoky Mountains in the distance. The fort is Fort Loudon establihed by the British in 1750.
