Throw Me Something Mister

We're in New Orleans for a fun weekend with Tim & Kim and Glenn & Gail. John & Ronica flew down from Idaho. So far we've hit Acme twice for shrimp and oyster poboys and had dinner last night at Tommy's on Tchoupitoulas.

Halloween at the Destin Fishing Rodeo

The Destin Fishing Rodeo ends on October 31. This year Miss Destin, Leah Stuart, costumed as the rodeo weighmaster, Bruce Cheves. The docks were packed with costumed revelers.

Airshow and Fireworks

Many afternoons these planes would fly over the harbor giving us a mini airshow.

On Thursdays during the month of October we get a fireworks show over the harbor.

Yolo Bandits

These folks paddled up to the rodeo scales on their Yolo boards.

Close Call on New Florida Girl

I was doing some boat chores with the VHF radio on. I heard the Coast Guard responding to a vessel in distress call. It turns out that the New Florida Girl was taking on water about 10 miles offshore. There were about 35 people on board. A Coast Guard jet flew over and dropped a pump. The vessel was able to steam into the harbor under its own power.
