Who Needs a Duck Call

We overnighted in Memphis and strolled into the Peabody Hotel to watch the ducks (we really were looking for a cocktail in the lobby bar but found the ducks).

Delta Blues

Highway 61 runs North/South through the river delta region of Mississippi. The region has spawned a remarkable number of blues muscians. W C Handy, Muddy Waters, BB King, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Little Milton, Ledbelly and dozens more.

The Crossroads

"The Crossroads", where Highway 49 crosses Highway 61, is where, according to legend, Robert Johnson sold his soul to the Devil. Johnson was given unearthly quitar skill in return. He was poisoned by a jealous husband and died in his late twenties. I guess the Devil wanted his soul a little sooner than Robert thought was bargained for.

Natchez

We decided to follow The Great River Road up through Mississippi. Natchez was our first overnight stop.

Weekend at Canyon Lake
