Yin Yang

We've been working hard since our last post. Morele made a big batch of meat sauce and red beans. Today she's making a surprise dish for Robin who arrives tomorrow. I bought a heavy duty polisher. The damn thing weighs 10 lbs. I've been compounding and waxing. After using that beast for a week my arms look like Popeye's after two cans of spinach. Unfortunately my stomach still looks like Bluto's.

Naked Pictures

This is a picture of our naked boat. We've removed all the storage bins, bikes, and other assorted necessities that were stored on the back deck and in the cockpit. Last time we arrived in Destin we were thought to be gypsies so we are trying to look respectable. My cleaning project has been interrupted by preparations for the possible tropical storm.

Welcoming Committee

This gentleman was on hand to greet us in Destin.

Monster Garfish

This garfish is hanging on the wall at Bobby's Fish Camp. Kinda makes you think twice about swimming in th Tombigbee River.

Rooster Bridge

This is all that remains of the Rooster Bridge. The bridge was made famous when a person with a video camera took pictures of a towboat hitting the bridge the overturning, sinking below the bridge only to pop back to the surface on the other side seemingly none the worse for the wear.
The bridge was later demolished when a new replacement was completed.

Demopolis Sunset

Sorry, about the delay since the last post but we haven't had an internet signal since our stay at the Columbus Marina. This is a picture of the river at Demopolis at sunset. Since leaving Demopolis we:
1) Ran to Bobby's fish camp and overnighted.
2) Ran to Mobile. Had to limp into Eastern Shore Marina in Fairhope, Alabama due to clogged fuel filters caused by a bad load of diesel we picked up at the marina in Aberdeen, Mississippi. Won't make that mistake again. Rented a car and drove up to Demopolis to pick up the car and small boat.
3) Ran to Destin arriving on Wednesday the 19th. Spent Thursday and Friday cleaning the boat.
Moved into a condo overlooking the marina.
We're looking forward to our stay in Destin.

Marina Mouser

The marina cat in Columbus decided to check out our boats. Best I could tell he approved.

Columbus Marina

On Saturday we made the quick run from Aberdeen, MS to Columbus, MS. Chuck and Pip of the M/V Miss Pip graciously agreed to drive our car and boat from Bay Springs down to Columbus. They arrived on Monday. On Tuesday we rented a car and ferried our gear to Demopolis and on Wednesday we made the 120 mile run (three locks) from Columbus to Demopolis. It is now Thursday morning and we have decided to hold up at Demopolis until Saturday morning due to the forecast for thundershowers today and Friday. It looks like Humberto will probably head northeast and pull moisture up from the Gulf. Last night we had dinner at the restaurant in the Demopolis marina. The chef is very good. I had jambalaya, Morele had crab cakes. Both dishes were some of the best food we've had on the trip. I'm posting from the parking lot at the Demopolis library as the Wi-Fi at the marina is not working. Looks like we'll leave here on Saturday and be in Mobile on Monday.

Six Lock Day

On Saturday we left Bay Springs Lake and ran 110 miles to Aberdeen MS. We made six locks and arrived Aberdeen about 2:00 pm. We were going to try and make Columbus which would have been another 20 miles and one more lock but we got into a thunderstorm so we ducked into Aberdeen.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to The Captain

Hey Everybody, its Robin! I've hacked into the blog (not really - Mom gave me the password) to get a post in wishing Dad a Happy Birthday.
The Marlee Ann and crew are leaving Pickwick this morning to begin the journey back south to Florida. Please leave The Captain birthday wishes in the comments section for him to receive once they have a good internet signal.

Before & After

Since Mason commented on Morele's nails we thought we'd post a before and after of her recent visit to the nail salon.

Waterfall Cove on Pickwick

We've been visiting Waterfall Cove which is only one mile from the marina. Our plan was to start heading south down the Tenn Tom on Tuesday after Labor Day but decided to change out the air conditioning unit in the salon so we'll delay our departure by a few days.
